Ex-sheriff’s deputy in Virginia arrested for assault of inmate

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — A former Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office deputy has been arrested for assaulting an inmate contained in the Adult Detention Center in January. 

Following an investigation, detectives charged Nicholas Vaszil, 28, of Annandale, with easy assault.

On Jan. 3, the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office Internal Affairs notified FCPD of an assault that occurred on January 1 simply earlier than 4 a.m. A sheriff’s deputy assaulted an inmate within the jail’s reserving space following an altercation. That deputy was later recognized as Vaszil. 

Authorities say no mugshot is out there on account of a summons launch warrant. 

Vaszil was fired from the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 30.
